Winter Card

A straight forward drive uphill towards a double plateau green set amongst mounds and bunkers. A comparatively easy hole to start your round.

Possibly the most difficult hole on the course, in certain conditions. The fairway is wide but falls away sharply right. The green gathers from the left side, but with a sharp fall off right.

Possibly the best 3rd hole in Sussex. An elevated tee shot gives a panoramic view of the hole. A challenge in any conditions, but a joy to play

A risk and reward hole for the very best, but for the average golfer, often a frustrating short par 4. Played well a birdie is possible, but beware a 6 is often possible. Tip: the approach shot is easier from the left. Ewen Murray, Sky commentator referred to this green as the best green on the course.

A short par 3 which may provide a birdie chance. Two bunkers guard the front of the green, and an undulating green makes putting interesting.

A dog leg left. The new 6th tee was opened on the 6/6/2006. Its stroke index 6. It's now regarded as a good test of golfing ability. Can you better 6 shots?

An elevated tee starts your play of this dog leg right. Long hitters may cut the corner, but all are left with a second shot into a green cut sharply into the bank.

An interesting but tricky par 3. Three pot bunkers await anything short of the green, with a bank at the back of the green encouraging a bold shot.

A spectacular hole. An elevated tee allows a bold drive into a valley, sweeping left. A successfully executed long drive to the right side of the fairway allows the very best with a shot to reach the green in two.

Following the same valley, an accurate and well struck drive is required to avoid or clear a copse of trees in the middle of the fairway. The approach to the green requires accuracy again to avoid out of bounds to the back of the green, and to the left what was originally a cock fighting pit, then a green, and now a pond!

A good drive is required to clear the escarpment. The second a tricky semi blind shot to the green.

The entire length of the 12th hole is played adjacent to the South Downs Way and out of bounds. Approaching the green, players can see the North Downs, the Weald of Sussex, and Chanctonbury Ring, Worthing.

A par three and a half. Love it or hate it, it is a challenge to find the green with your opening shot, and a challenge to stay on it, with your first or second!

Titled the Long Hole, it is a long hole requiring two good blows and an accurate third to find the putting surface for a birdie chance.

The prevailing wind has ruined many a card here after a wayward drive. The second shot requires accuracy in length to hit the green, or a bump and run onto the putting surface.

Crossing the South Downs Way for the 16th tee shot provides long hitters the opportunity to boom a drive over the dew pond, which is strategically placed for shorter sliced drives. Out of bounds right and a challenging green awaits second shots. Lovely views of the windmills may temper your frustration.

Jack and Jill windmills look over your drive as you attempt to hit the fairway sloping to Out of Bounds on the right. If you are too far left with your tee shot, a copse of trees will prevent a clear 2nd shot into the green. Long, and you flirt with Out of Bounds.
